CaliforniaRehab_Is Back Pain Slowing You Down

Back Pain Prevention A little prevention goes a long way. If you want to avoid future back pain, you can make sure you’re being good to your back. Lift Properly You pick things up constantly. Even if you’re lifting something light, make sure you’re facing the object. Squat, keeping your spine straight. Lift with your leg muscles, as this will reduce the pressure placed on your spine. Use Good Posture When you’re standing, imagine a string is attached to the top of your head—lifting you up. This will keep your hips, spine, shoulders and neck aligned. If you’re sitting, don’t slouch. Use Strength Training Your body has hundreds of muscles. These muscles protect and control your spine. By lifting weights, running and swimming, you can keep themstrong. Train your coremuscles. In doing so, you’ll easily control quick, lifting movements. It never hurts to visit a physical therapist, either. Get regular check-ups, and make sure your body is in good condition. If you have a history of back injuries, pain or minor aches, don’t hesitate to talk to a professional. You deserve a pain-free life, and your back will thank you.

Patient Review

My name is Isaac Schinmann and I am a Modesto Christian alumi and a current student at UC Davis. I am majoring in Biology to eventually become a Physician’s Assistant. I started having shoulder issues in August when I had a bone contusion. In late October my shoulder officially popped out of my socket which tore my labrum in my left shoulder. My right shoulder was also injured throughout the course of high school and it turns out I have a slab tear in my right shoulder that only needed physical therapy. When I got surgery my surgeon did a really good job and I did not feel a lot of pain throughout recovery nor was I on the pills for more than 2 days. Once I was able to go to physical therapy with Jeff we stayed on course to a program we were using and never rushed anything. No matter how frustrated I got because I felt like I could do it, Jeff always calmed me down and told me to trust the process. Thankfully I listened to him and my shoulder is in a great spot now. Jeff was not only my physical therapist but he treated me as a friend which made it easier to come back for more physical therapy. Because of Jeff and the hard work I put in to make my shoulder better, I can happily say I have little to no problems with either of my shoulders. Isaac Schinmann
