YOUTH7 Germany 2022 - Executive Report

“Young people should have a say in all decisions that affect them. That is the hallmark of democracy, and that is where the Y7 Youth Summit comes in. At the Summit, the young people of the G7 states and their peers from various guest countries including Ukraine can engage with policymakers. At the national level, Germany promotes youth participation in a variety of ways, including through an action plan for child and youth participation. The Youth7 Summit was a major opportunity for young people to be given a louder voice in international processes, too.” Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Lisa Paus

“International youth participation thrives on personal encounters and direct exchange with political decision-makers. The fact that it was possible to meet in person again, after the pandemic, has been a great benefit for everyone participating. Young people have a very clear idea of how they want to contribute to shaping politics. I had an intensive exchange with the Delegates at the Youth7 Summit about their ideas for strengthening youth participation. I am impressed by what the young people have put together on their own responsibility and across national borders in preparation for this summit.” Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Lisa Paus
