part will open on 18 th September at the Met’s Anna Wintour Costume Center and will commemorate the 75 th anniversary of the Costume Institute. The exhibi- tion will be organised to resemble an apartment, with crisscrossed walls and rooms that will present what Bolton dubs “a new lexicon that reflects the time in which we live”. The second part, “Anthology of Fash- ion”, will open on 5 th May 2022, on the premises of the museum’s American Wing. Bolton and the museum's curatorial team will work together with American film directors to create cinematic scenes showing various phases of the history of American fashion (the second gala event will be held on 2 nd May 2022). Who will be the co-chairs? Every year’s Met Gala has several co-chairs who help host the event. Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka are in charge for 2021, while Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri and Anna Win- tour will be the evening’s honorary chairs. Will there be a red carpet? Yes! Although this year’s event is more intimate, there will still be strutting and pictures on the Met’s cult staircase. Get ready to enjoy bold, unusual creations. Is there a dress code? Yes. American independence is the official dress code noted in the invitation. We should expect this to be interpreted in many ways – from gaudy cloth- ing combinations to classic dresses by American de- signers. The only real rule at the Met Gala is to always expect the unexpected. Who’s invited? Part of the fun of the Met Gala is that you never know who will show up! Designers usually invite the celebrities who are the most interesting at that mo- ment, so we’ll certainly see major Hollywood names on the red carpet.
