1. AVGUSTAUGUST 1996. Ludilo pod imenom Igra prestola Objavljen je epski fantastični roman Džordža R. R. Martina. Knjiga je bila prva u Martinovoj seriji Pesma leda i vatre o za- vadi srednjovekovnih plemićkih porodica na zamišljenom kontinentu zvanom Ve- steros. Iako u početku nije bila bestseler, Igra prestola je stekla vernu publiku i na kraju postala veliki hit, prodavši milione knjiga i jednu od najgledanijih TV serija.

Tog dana dogodio se Vudstok! Uprkos relativnom neiskustvu, mladi promoteri uspeli su da sakupe vr- hunske umetnike uključujući Džeferson erplejn , Hu , Grejtful ded , Dženis Džoplin, Džimija Hendriksa, Kri- dens Klirvoter rivajv i mnoge druge. AND THEN… WOODSTOCK On that day, the legendary Woodstock music festi- val opened! Despite the relative inexperience of the festival’s young promoters, they managed to con- firm a line-up of top acts, including Jefferson Airplane, the Who, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many more.

HERE COMES "GAME OF THRONES" FEVER It was on 1 st August, 1996, that George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novel A Game of Thrones first went on sale. As the first instal- ment of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series about feuding medieval noble families on an imaginary continent called Westeros, A Game of Thrones wasn’t initially a best-seller, but it soon gained a loyal following, while the series ultimately went on to become a huge hit, selling millions of books and spawning a blockbuster HBO series. .
