ŽUPA KRISTA KRALJA THE CO-CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE KING

I n the centre of the Belgrade Archdio- cese is the oldest Co-Cathedral of Christ the King, with an eponymous church that acts as the gathering point for be- lievers of the Roman Catholic faith. Ele- gant and awe-inspiring, only the oldest res- idents of the capital recall the look of the church-chapel from 1924, which is now an integral part of the Co-Cathedral of Christ the King and is dedicated to St. Ladislav. It was extended to its present size in 1926, with the addition of side entrances, a choir and bell tower, while on the feast of Christ the King it was dedicated to the new pa- tron saint of Christ the King. In 1927 the church organ, the first in Serbia, was com- pleted. It is still played today. The church has been renovated and adapted to new liturgical rules: the main altar is turned to face the congregation, while an archbish- op’s throne was also installed. The aim of the clergy is precise - greater concern for youngsters, who represent the future of the Church and society.
