The whole of Belgrade comes to the Zemun Market in search of fresh fish from the river. It has long been known that local fishermen come directly to this market with their catch of the day, and the rest of this market’s offer was traditionally always linked to the river – watermel- ons and grapes transported by river from Stari Slankamen, cabbag- es coming from the best vegetable patches on Lido... In the meantime, the offer has expanded, with the market relocated, modernised and di- vided into sales areas, but fish is still its trademark product, while this market differs from all others in the city due to the aromas of the riv- er and its more relaxed atmosphere. It is interesting that BBC Travel in- cluded the Zemun Market in Belgrade’s tourist offer, but it is clear why to anyone who has been there while the rivermen prepare fish soup, or to anyone who is willing to share some life anecdote with a drink.

ZEMUNSKA PIJACA ZEMUN MARKET
