FUN WITH A GOOD CONCEPT BRIM KONCEPTOM The concept store idea arrived in Belgrade nine years ago, with the opening of Supermarket in Višnjićeva Street. Since then the city’s corners have seen the emergence of many more creative spaces in which art, fashion, design, music, cosmetics, food and good energy are consumed in a single bite and in the company of interesting, creative people. Here we present some of them to you

MAKADAM MACADAM

M akadam je ime dobio zbog mesta na kojem se nalazi (vrsta kamenog puta koja je očuvana na Kosančićevom vencu), ali ta starinska reč dobro oslikava i sam koncept ovog prostora. Ideja je predstaviti rukotvo- rine otkrivene tokom putovanja po Sr- biji, u radionicama zanatlija i ateljei- ma primenjenih umetnika. Čak i nove stvari imaju miris tradicije – od grn- čarije i drvenih posuda, preko odeće od belog srpskog platna i sirove vu- ne, do ukusnog domaćeg vina. Kako se ističe, „svaki predmet je jedinstven i u sebi krije priču, strast i energiju oso- be koja ga je napravila“.

M akadam (Macadam) is so named due to its location (on the type of stone road that is still preserved in the Kosančićev Venac neighbourhood), but this archaic term reflects the concept of the venue well. The idea is to present hand- icraft items discovered while journeying around Serbia’s craft workshops and ap- plied artists’studios. Even new things con- tain the scent of tradition – from pottery and wooden tableware, via clothes made of white Serbian canvas and raw wool, to delicious home-made wine. As is point- ed out, “every item is unique and carries within it the story, passion and energy of the person who made it”.
