T ri godine u mulju, na hlad- nom i tamnom rečnom dnu za samo jedan dan svetlosti, za kratak svadbeni let, a sve zbog iskonskog nagona za produže- njem vrste. I potom odlazak u smrt. Čudo prirode koje na reci Tisi jednom godišnje izvode maleni vo- deni insekti može se videti još samo na drugom kraju sveta, na velikoj ki- neskoj reci Jangcekjang. Zbog toga hiljade ljudi sredinom juna svakog leta požele da dođu u ove krajeve, jer tada reka Tisa procveta. Isprva sve deluje mirno u blago letnje predvečerje, Tisa izgleda kao obična reka. A onda se s nagovešta- jem sumraka pojavljuju prvi cvetovi. Rojevi tananih insekata izviru nad rekom kako bi u grčevitoj borbi sa skorom smrću produžili vrstu. That’s why thousands of people every year in mid-June desire to come to these areas, because it is then that the Tisa blooms. At first everything seems tranquil on a mild summer’s evening, with the Tisa ap- pearing like any ordinary river. And then, with a hint of twilight, the first blossoms appear.
