Un Hercules CC-130J survolera encore une fois Cornwall Le président de la fête du Canada de Cornwall et député fédéral Guy Lauzon a annoncé le 23 juin dernier qu’un Hercules CC-130J du ministère de la Défense nationale survolera Cornwall lors des festivités de la fête du Canada au Parc Lamoureux. « C’est un grand honneur d’avoir ce superbe avion survoler au-dessus de Cornwall une fois de plus cette année, a déclaré M. Lauzon. Les visiteurs au parc Lamoureux ont vraiment apprécié l’événement l’an dernier et nous sommes vraiment reconnaissants envers nos Forces armées canadiennes qui l’ont organisé encore une fois cette année. » L’avion Hercules volera de la base militaire de Trenton et sera piloté par les membres du 436 e Escadron de transport. Le Hercules CC-130 constitue le pivot de la flotte de transport des Forces canadiennes. L’avion est doté de quatre moteurs et d’une voilure fixe turbopropulseur. L’avion survolera le parc Lamoureux vers midi, puis reviendra survoler le fleuve St-Laurent. — Francis Racine
May 31 was a very special day for a local youth. Karine Gauthier was invited back to the third annual YOUth in Office, Job Shadowing day on Parliament Hill. Young people aged 14 to 24 from across Canada had the chance to learn about politics and the political process fromMembers of Parliament (MPs) and Hill staffers. Approximately 100 youth and 100 MPs spent the workday together as part of a joint initiative to inspire young people to become more engaged citizens by exposing them to politics and the democratic process in Canada. “Karine Gauthier is one of our local youth,” said Amanda Brisson, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. “She has always said she wants to be Prime Minister one day and this is just encouraging her to follow her dreams.” Pictured is Karine with Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. — supplied photo
