SMEDEREVSKA JESEN SMEDEREVO AUTUMN
The Vršac Grape Days are being held this year, from 13 th to 16 th September, for the 61 st time, and represent one of the oldest and most popular tourist and business events in Serbia. This event gathers thousands of people each year in celebration of the grape harvest, wine tasting and participation in various ac- tivities. The mascot of the Vršac Grožđebal is Vinko Lozić, a char- acter from the works of famous Serbian writer Jovan Sterija Popović, who symbolically receives the keys of the city from the Mayor at the opening ceremony and returns them in a formal closing ceremony. In the meantime, he is the commander of the three-day parade, and is present at concerts, a carnival, bicycle parade, the grape harvest beauty pageant etc. Vršački Dani berbe grožđa se po 61. put održavaju od 13. do 16. septembra kao jedna od najstarijih i najposećenijih turistič- ko-privrednih manifestacija u Srbiji. Svake godine okuplja hi- ljade ljudi koji slave berbu grožđa, degustiraju vino i učestvu- ju u različitim sadržajima. Zaštitna ličnost vršačkog Grožđebala je Vinko Lozić, lik iz dela poznatog srpskog pisca Jovana Steri- je Popovića, koji na svečanom otvaranju simbolično prima klju- čeve grada od gradonačelnika, a vraća ih na svečanom zatva- ranju. U međuvremenu, on je komandant trodnevne parade, a prisutan je i na koncertima, karnevalu, biciklističkom karavanu, izboru lepotice berbe…
For more than 100 years, Smederevo has been welcoming au- tumn in September, celebrating grapes and wine, enjoying the nuances of their flavours with concerts and performanc- es, folklore shows, competitions for the best wines etc. The programme runs from 7 th to 10 th September in the famous Smederevo Fortress and on the squares of the city, while a spe- cial attraction is represented by the parade of medieval knights, with a knights’ tournament and an exhibition of old crafts that provide reminders of the exciting history of the last medieval capital of Serbia on the bank of the Danube. This is included in a package with numerous tourist offers for Smederevo Autumn, which give visitors an opportunity to better familiarise them- selves with the city. Smederevo već duže od sto godina dočekuje jesen u septem- bru slaveći grožđe i vino, uživajući u nijansama njihovih ukusa uz koncerte i predstave, smotre folklora, izbor najboljeg vina... Program se odvija od 7. do 10. septembra u čuvenoj Smederev- skoj tvrđavi i na trgovima u gradu, a posebna atrakcija su defile srednjovekovnih vitezova, viteški turnir i izložba starih zanata, koji podsećaju na uzbudljivu istoriju poslednje srednjovekov- ne srpske prestonice na obali Dunava. S tim u paketu idu i broj- ne turističke ponude za posetioce Smederevske jeseni koje im pružaju priliku da bolje upoznaju grad.
