NESEBAR BISER SVETSKE KULTURNE BAŠTINE
NESEBAR THE JEWEL OF WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE Every country with a tourism industry has its own special “jewel” that distinguishes it, stands out and elevates it to a higher level, and one of the most beautiful on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast is Nessebar. The old and new parts of the city are connected by a narrow natural earthen causeway. The old part of the city is located on a rocky peninsula, so visitors symbolically journey from the new part of the city and our contemporary “civilisation”, to the old part, where history has stood still. The city has been under legal protection since 1956 and was included on UNESCO’s list of World Cultural Heritage Sites in 1983.
You can visit over 120 monasteries, with the most interesting being Rila Monastery, which is situated at an altitude of 1,147 metres above sea level and comprises a complex of 200 rooms, a central church and a museum that preserves a valuable collection of icons
ZLATNI PJASCI GRAD POD ZLATNIM PESKOM
ZLATNI PJASCI THE CITY UNDER THE GOLDEN SAND
Golden Sands, located on Bulgaria’s northern Black Sea coast, is one of the country’s oldest and largest coastal resorts. It is crystal clear why this place is called “Golden Sands”, be- cause from the instant you see the first beauti- ful beaches it is obvious that the golden sand covering them has “baptised” this city. Accord- ing to one legend, seafaring pirates once bur- ied gold here, but nature took her revenge by turning it all into fine, golden sand. The beach- es extend over a length of 3.5 kilometres in this part of the Black Sea coast, and in some parts is up to 100 metres wide. When it comes to Sunny Beach, we can state freely that dur- ing the summer it is a “separate state”, due to its hundreds of hotels, entertainment venues adapted to cater to all ages, numerous bou- tiques, restaurants, sports facilities and facil- ities for rest and relaxation, excellent infra- structure etc. And that’s why it’s visited over the course of a summer by over a million tour- ists from around the world.
