pollution. People became uniform in the infuriating race to be trendy. Perhaps the moment has come for us to again start experienc- ing clothing in a personal way and to buy designs that we will love. Perhaps those clothes are slightly more expensive, but made of ma- terials that can be produced without htreatening to one day leave us without drinking water. And again we return to the fashion part. You’ll never hear a serious fashion designer talk about trends. They only talk about style, their fashion designer’s vision or a story they wanted to tell. And then Rita Moreno appeard on the red carpet at the 2018 Acad- emy Awards ceremony in the same dress of fashion wizard Armani that she wore for the same event in 1962. Real fashion today dubbed as ‘slow’ has no shelf life and recycling has never appeared more ele- gant. Even famous creator Vivian Westwood is propagating the idea of buying fewer items but of higher quality, made from sustainable and recyclable materials. Slow fashion pieces are made for permanent style with the idea of lasting for a long time. They are like chameleons, fitting into differ- ent styles. Think about black trousers, white t-shirts or knitted cardi- gans. These are also outfits that almost have their own attitude and talk about the wearer. For instance, striking designs with ethno colours or powerful pieces like cashmere coats. A clean wardrobe is a sign of efficiency and self-confidence. Imagine a wardrobe with clothing that makes you different, courageous and appropriate wherever you go. Such pieces are often made in small series, with hand-made parts, which gives them a story that mass quantities of serial pieces don’t pos- sess. They provide you with the possibility of building your own style and telling your own story. Slow fashion promotes responsible consumption, emphasises quality and celebrates personal style. The clothes we wear should talk about us, and help us to show who we are.
