T here are details and symbols that have for centu- ries testified to their own beauty and contempo- raneousness. There are symbols that always find a way to inspire new generations of artists. While viewing Svetislav Strala’s book, the collection of Serbian me- dieval ornaments was also noticed by Vladimir Vujović, au- thor of the“Easter egg”project. He transferred patterns that adorn the walls of Serbian monasteries to Easter eggs, and thus emerged collections of egg coverings that are separat- ed according to the geographical position of monasteries and which return Christian ornaments to the centre of at- tention of this great holiday and our modern life within it. - At the right time, in the right place, I encountered great enthusiasm, a rare book that reminds of the ornamental treasure of a nation, a public thirsty for forgotten values, a family of volunteers and a big and significant holiday. When the shell cracked, the “Easter egg” was born. The motive was so strong that it couldn’t fail to suc- ceed, says Vladimir Vujović, the author of these unusual coverings for eggs.
When it comes to ornaments and pat- terns, it is surprising how much that which was painted in the 12 th century appears like a motif from today’s designed, flu- orescent, modern world.
