F ebr u ar y 26 Hozv Much Does the World Want Christ? (Missionary Meeting) Acts 16:8-15; 17:32-34 “The World keeps seeking for a way to gain release From war, and strife, and bitterness— I have His peace. “ The World groans ’neath its burdens. Its eyes are dim ; It cannot find the rest it craves— I rest in Him. “ The World is hunting happines.sj , Without alloy; But happiness cannot be found- -1’ He gives me joy. •. —Am y R. Thomas. T h o u g h t s on T h e Topip By the World, in today’s lesson, is .meant the unbelieving mass of people. Many people do not want the Christ' of the Bible. They . "love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil," and according to 2 Tim. 3 :13, 1‘epil men and imposters shall wax worse -and worse, deceiving and being deceived .’4; The spirit of unrest which prevails over the, en,(ire .world today is greater than it.jhas ever been in all history. “Men’s hearts are fail ing them fo r, fear, and for looking after those things which are coming : On the earth,” according to the prediction of Our Lord. In the midst o f all of this ..unfest. the world is seeking for .a solution ip, aJJ its problems. One class of people sock it in the round of pleasure; another. Class by delving, into the isms and cults 1 of the day; and still another through Socialistic efforts, labor unions, anarchy and com munism. But, all to no avail;; Jesus Christ alone can satisfy the soul-hunger p f ' humanity, and, the world needs Him more than they may want H im .:,,''; The commission to show the world its need of Christ was given to twelve men. Since that time millions have fpirfid rest, peace, and joy in Christ. There are yet millions who have never heard of Him, to whom, we who have found Him are re sponsible in making Him known to them. Are we living up to this responsibility ? The Macedonian call, as given in our les son, comes to us from Africa, India, China and other, heathen lands. In what way are we heeding the call ? ;■ “L ift up your eyes, and look on the fields, for they are white already to har vest” (John 4 :35). “ Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15 R V .). C h oice N uggets <' “Jesus Himself Drew Near ” .1 Luke 24:13-15 Faint with the heat, and the length of the road, I was oppressed with a wearisome load; One came so tenderly saying to me, “ Give me thy load, ’tis too heavy for thee”—: Jesus Himself. — o —

After seven years o i l such, practice the businessii o f this concern increased to twenty-four times as much as that done in the first year,..: C h oice N ug gets ' “ I Have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that arewery wise and very beautiful; but I 'never read in either of them, 'Come unto me, all ye that labor and. are heavy laden.’ ”— St. Augustine.., “The sages and hero$.s;jof history are receding from us, and history contracts the record o f their deeds into a narrower and narrower page. But time has no power over the name and deeds and words o f Jesus” Christ.”—Channing. “ You ¡never get to the end of Christ’s words. There Is something in them always behind. They, pass into proverbs—they pass into laws—they pass into doctrines— they pass into consolations; but they never pass away, and, after all the use that is made; of them, they are still not ex hausted.”—Dean Stanley. “ The •greatest; ;sermon Jesus ever preached was His life. He did not merely urge us to be good; He showed us good ness in action. His life is the world’s ideal yet to be attained.”—Marble. “ If you are really anxious to learn the way to God, He has not left Himself with out a witness, nor you without a teacher. Go to the recorded Christ, and look at that history; listen to those words which sur vive in the Gospels. And go to the living Christ, to Him who has said, ‘I am the light of the w orld: he th^t rfolloweth me shall not walk in darkness,", but shrill'have the light, ,pf.. life.’ And dim as may be your outset—more of night than morning in your twilight, as you follow on you shall know the Lord, and with the light that radiates from Himself, your path will shine brighter and brighter unto the per fect day.”—James Hamilton.
