Having initially invested in Packz from Hybrid Soft- ware in 2016,Aztec Label invested in a second license for the native pdf editing software due to accelerating growth.Offering a range of label and tag production ca- pabilities,Aztec has announced several new press and equipment investments in recent months, including a 4,000-square-foot extension of the facility, to boost its capacity, quality, and performance. FTA Plans Print Quality Inspection Course FTA has announced the launch of a second new on- line course, offering instructor-led training in identi- fying flexographic print defects visually and with the assistance of a device, as well as how to develop a road map for printed web inspection. The course, Flexographic Print Quality Inspection , is comprised of two 90-minute classes taught by FTA Director of Education Joe Tuccitto. Each class will fea- ture an interactive lecture and live web inspection. Those who attend both classes will receive a certifi- cate of completion. Classes are taught on specific dates and times through FTA’s Virtual Campus.The classes and their focuses are: • Visual Flexographic Print Quality Inspection : Learn how to describe the best procedure for inspect- ing the entire printed web, identify common print de- fects and what causes them, how to develop an action plan to remedy defects, suggest corrective actions pri- or to press production, and more (April 5); and • Device-Assisted Flexographic Print Quality Inspec- tion : Learn how a spectrodensitometer can be used to monitor and control color during production, verify dot gain with the dot area function, measure and con- trol press slur and doubling, measure and control ink trapping press side, and more (April 12). LMI Packaging Partners Install Flexo Plates All Printing Resources (APR), Glendale Heights, Illi- nois, helped to upgrade the CDI system, supply Mac- Dermid flexo plates and install a RFID Inventory Man- agement system at LMI Packaging in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. APR also installed a SupplySentry RFID Inventory Management system, which helps LMI track every- thing the creative services department uses includ- ing papers, plate materials, towels, stickybacks, doctor blades, tapes and even ink for desktop printers.
