I ndoor climate control designer and supplier Versatile was chosen by M&E Design Consultants Semple & McKillop Ltd to provide the low water content radiators for Heather House, a new 60-bed community nursing unit (CNU) at St. Mary’s healthcare campus, Cork. The newly built CNU provides both long and short stay accommodation for older residents in the area. The company supplied Versatile Maxi Low Water Content Radiators (WF models), Herz valves, and bespoke Versatile vertical low surface temperature
radiators for corridor areas. According to Tony Kennedy, the company’s commercial manager for HVAC, the project required a high-performance emitter operating at an energy efficient low flow design system. “The M&E consultant chose Versatile Maxi because it is extremely efficient at low flow temperature and very robust to withstand everyday use at a healthcare facility,” he explained. “The low water content heat exchanger is extremely energy efficient due to the fact it has approximately 1/7 of water content compared to a conventional radiator. The
1.5 mm thick steel folded to 3mm tubes on the Versatile Maxi casing give it incredible robustness and durability, which is ideal for the long-term lifecycle of the building.” As an organization, Versatile always tries to deliver sustainable solutions and focuses on maintaining its Life Cycle Analysis for the entire solution, as the project itself was for a healthcare environment.
