Some chainsaws include a bar-nose tip guard as original equip- ment (including Echo, Homelite and Ryobi models). Be aware that while some Oregon replacement bars and bar noses have holes for mounting a Guard Mate tip guard, most bars and bar noses do not.

WARNING: Some chainsaws come with bar-nose tip guards Removing the bar-nose tip guard increases the risk of kickback The operator, or bystanders, could be seriously hurt If you replace the bar or the bar nose, make the right choice Choose bars and bar noses with holes to mount a bar-nose tip guard And follow the manufacturer’s instructions

Selection and Installation of Oregon Intenz® Guide Bars

INTENZ ®

Oregon | Blount, Inc. 4909 SE International Way Portland, OR 97269

Intenz guide bars have our patented Intenz chain tensioning mechanism built right into the bar itself. You can read and fol- low the information about Intenz guide bars in this section. Replacing the bar on saws equipped with an Intenz guide bar Chainsaws originally equipped with an Intenz guide bar do not have a “bar adjustment mechanism” for tensioning the chain. Chainsaws which have been adapted to take an Intenz guide bar have had the bar adjustment mechanism removed. Since these saws have no bar adjustment pin, always replace an Intenz guide bar with another Intenz guide bar. That way, you main- tain the saw’s ability to properly tension the saw chain. Replacing a standard bar with an Intenz guide bar An Intenz bar can be fitted to any chainsaw with a compatible motor mount pattern. If the saw has a bar adjustment mecha- nism, the mechanism must be removed.

WARNING: Do not use standard-type non-Intenz guide bars on chainsaws without a bar-adjustment mechanism. Be sure to tension the chain correctly A loose chain can jump off the bar and seriously injure the operator and bystanders You cannot maintain chain tension on a non Intenz guide bar without the mechanical stop from the saw’s bar-adjustment mechanism
