56 WORKING AROUND POWER TAKE-OFF (PTO)

Do not go under the vehicle if the engine is running.
Do not work near an exposed rotating shaft.
Never work alone when repairing or going under the vehicle for repair or maintenance. Rotating PTO drive shafts can entangle clothing, skin, hands, hair, etc. causing severe injury. Rotating PTO drive or driven equipment may be exposed, and coming in contact or getting caught in this rotating equipment or drive shaft may cause severe injury. Drive shafts can possess recessed and/or protruding set screws. Objects such as square headed set screws can entangle clothing, skin, hair, hands etc. causing severe injury.
