71 BRAKES
BRAKE INTERLOCKS: Your petroleum tank may have a brake interlocking system installed which activates the brakes as a result of a given operation. Some of the most typical brake interlocking systems are installed on the bottom load heads, bottom load interlock bar, vapor recovery outlet, panel switch, and the PTO control to name a few. Typically the goal of these systems are to set the brakes when items such as hoses and bottom load adapters are attached to the trailer, so that the trailer cannot be moved while these attachments are still in place. It can also serve to protect against certain actions being taken such as driving the truck with the PTO engaged. The quantity and options requested at the time of purchase. These systems all operate using air supplied by the vehicle. These air systems do not need lubrication, but adequate air supplies must be maintained for them to function properly. Multiple deployments of the interlocking systems after the truck has been shut off can deplete the air reservoir(s), mandating the air tanks be recharged.
Do not attempt to move the vehicle if the brakes are set by a brake interlocking system.
Proper air pressure and volume must be maintained for and repair any air leaks.
