However, the person who has had the strongest influence on my career is definitely my mother. Everything I know about hard work, sacrifice and determination, I learned first - hand from her and I would be nowhere without her influence. What impact has social media/networking had on your career? Networking is paramount to success in the real estate industry. It is the lifeblood that drives deal and professional opportunities. On a personal level, networking played an important part in landing each of the jobs I’ve had in the industry. For exam- ple, when the job opportunity opened up at Duke Realty, I was able to reach out directly to the hiring manager because I met him at a networking event a year earlier. Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current posi- tion and why you choose the field/profession you are in today? My career path has been unusually linear despite industrial real estate not always being the coolest real estate food group like it is today. My family is in the industrial real estate business and I grew up wanting to go into the industry. I went to UW-Wisconsin to study real estate because it had one of the top real estate programs in the country. Upon graduation, I was fortunate enough to land an analyst role at KTR Capital Partners doing industrial real estate acquisitions and I have been buying, building and leasing industrial buildings ever since. What were some of your early goals and did any- thing happen to change them? I have always been drawn to deals and it was an early goal of mine to get as much transaction experience as possible. Having worked on over $2 billion worth of transactions since joining the industry, I definitely feel good about accomplishing this goal. What unique qualities and continued on page 15C

I take great pride in the lead- ership role I have played (and continue to play) growing Duke Realty’s presence in New Jer- sey. Since joining Duke Realty, we have grown our best-in-class NJ portfolio by nearly 6 million s/f and established ourselves as a dominant local player. What is your most notable project, deal or transaction? The successful acquisition, development and leasing of the Steel Run Logistics Center in Perth Amboy to Home De-

pot is one of my most notable projects. Upon completion in late 2020, the 1.25M s/f devel- opment project will serve as a long-term distribution hub for Home Depot, create hundreds of new jobs, generate tremen-

dous additional tax revenue and stimulate the local Perth Amboy economy. This trans- action represents one of the largest deals in Duke Realty’s nearly 50-year history. How do you contribute to
