D a, i to se dogodilo – reprezentacija Srbije će posle 24 godine igrati na Evropskom prvenstvu koje se orga- nizuje od 14. juna do 14. jula u de- set nemačkih gradova. Na otvaranju, u futurističkoj „Alijanc areni“ u Minhenu, igraće domaćin i Škotska, dok je veliko finale zakazano za Olimpijski stadion u Berlinu. – Pre dolaska u Nemačku pričali smo o fudba- lu, žrebu, eventualnim protivnicima. Nisam pogo- dio, nisam se bavio time. Prvu utakmicu igramo sa Engleskom... Interesantna i teška grupa. Cilj je, naravno, da budemo što bolji i da budemo u prva dva u grupi kako bismo prošli dalje. Imamo jedan balkanski derbi protiv Slovenije, neugodne Dan- ce, sa kojima smo već igrali, a imamo i Engleze, koji izgledaju kao jedna od najjačih ekipa u Evro- pi. Biće interesantno – rekao je Dragan Stojković i naglasio da nema prostora za strah. – Ne, nema potrebe da se plašimo, to je igra 11 na 11 i biće to dobre i interesantne utakmi- ce. Ima dosta vremena da analiziramo i pravimo planove, spremamo se i pripremamo da budemo najbolji kada je najvažnije. Verujemo da možemo da odemo napred, odnosno u drugi krug – samo- uveren je bio selektor posle žreba koji je održan u Hamburgu. A evo ko nas, za početak, čeka na pu- tu ka trofeju...
Y es, that also happened – after a break of 24 years, Serbia’s national team will com- pete in the UEFA European Championship, which will be held in ten German cities from 14 th June to 14 th July. The opening of the tournament will see the host nation take on Scotland at Munich’s futuristic Allianz Arena, while the final has been scheduled to take place at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. “Prior to arriving in Germany, we spoke about foot- ball, the draw, possible opponents. I didn’t guess right; I didn’t engage in that. We play the first game against Eng- land... It’s an interesting and tough group. The goal, of course, is to be as good as possible and to be among the top two in the group, in order to progress further. We have a Balkan derby against Slovenia, the tricky Danes, who we’ve already played, and we also have the English, who look like one of the strongest squads in Europe. It will be interesting,” said Dragan Stojković, before stress- ing that there’s no room for fear! “No, there is no need for us to be afraid. It’s a game of 11 on 11 and those will be good and interesting match- es. There’s plenty of time to analyse and make plans, get ready and prepare in order to be at our best when it’s most important. We believe that we can progress, i.e., to make it to the second round,” said a confident manager, speak- ing after the draw in Hamburg.
