Touch: Earth Grounding Just like the plants are replenished by being rooted to the Earth, so are we! Commit to remaining close to the earth by all means possible to regulate the new spark of energy that comes with the Spring season. Grounding through nature is soothing to the nervous system and re- laxing to the mind and body. ● Walk barefoot. ● Be mindful of the warmth of the sun on your face. ● Hug a tree and settle into the peace of being still. Taste: Mindful Eating As humans in a busy world, we have lost touch with our hunger and satiety clues, whereas animals re-enter the world after hiberna- tion and eat very mindfully to slowly return to their normal eating patterns. Try the raisin exercise, developed by mindfulness teacher Jon Ka- bat-Zinn: ● Hold the raisin in your hand. Notice the weight of it. ● Take note of each and every crevice and wrinkle in the raisin. ● Feel the raisin, running it between your fingers and noticing its texture. ● Hold the raisin to your nose, breathe in. Notice the scent of the raisin. ● Slowly put the raisin in your mouth. Notice how it feels on your tongue. ● Start chewing the raisin. Notice the tastes that are released. ● Slowly swallow, as you feel the raisin traveling down your throat. ● Notice how you feel and the changes in sensation in your mouth, throat, and stomach. Smell: Essential Oils Oils have many healing properties, affecting our bodies, scent mechanisms, brains, and overall wellbeing. Eucalyptus, lemongrass, and lavender can invigorate your senses and enhance your mood to harness the essence of Spring. ● Dab a few drops of oil on your wrists, temples, and both sides
