Woolroom, Britain’s wool bedding and sleep specialist, is proud to announce that it has received a King’s Award for Enterprise 2026 in the International Trade category. Founded with a mission to help people sleep better naturally, Woolroom designs and manufactures premium bedding, mattresses and sleep accessories using traceable British wool and other natural materials. Today, Woolroom serves customers across the UK, North America and a growing number of international markets, helping people create cleaner, more comfortable sleep environments through the natural benefits of wool. The King’s Award for Enterprise recognises Woolroom’s strong international growth over the past three years, during which overseas sales of its natural bedding products increased by more than 130%. Recognition of international growth The King’s Award for Enterprise recognises the outstanding achievements of British businesses across a range of categories, including innovation, sustainability, international trade, promoting opportunity through social mobility and enterprise. Widely regarded as the most prestigious business award in the UK, the programme celebrates organisations that demonstrate exceptional performance, innovation and impact in their respective fields. This marks the second time Woolroom has received recognition for its international success, having previously won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2021.

Since receiving its first award, Woolroom has continued to expand its international footprint, with growth primarily driven by increasing demand in the United States and Canada for sustainable, natural sleep solutions. To support this growth, Woolroom has invested significantly in its North American operations, expanding its local team and strengthening capabilities across digital marketing, logistics and in-market expertise. The company has also established distribution hubs in both the US and Canada, enabling its wool bedding products to reach customers more efficiently across North America while supporting “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise for a second time is a huge honour for the whole team at Woolroom. It recognises the progress Woolroom has made in growing the business while staying true to its roots as a British, family-run brand. “There is a growing global appetite for better, growth in other key international markets. Chris Tattersall, Managing Director, says: cleaner, more sustainable sleep. Woolroom’s focus is on meeting that demand responsibly – from sourcing and product design through to how customers are served in each market. Woolroom is continuing to invest in its North American team, supply chain and ability to deliver high-quality, traceable products to customers around the world.” “There is a growing global appetite for better, cleaner, more sustainable sleep. Wool’s growing predominance The Award comes at a time when consumer awareness of the benefits of natural sleep products continues to grow. Earlier this year, Woolroom supported research conducted by British Wool, the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) and Bangor University. The study found that wool outperformed feather, down and synthetic bedding materials for temperature regulation and moisture management during sleep. These findings further reinforce Woolroom’s commitment to promoting the benefits of natural fibres and supporting evidence-based research into healthier sleep environments. As more consumers seek breathable, natural alternatives to synthetic bedding, Woolroom remains focused on helping people improve their sleep through products that harness the unique performance benefits of British wool. Receiving a second King’s Award for Enterprise represents an important milestone in Woolroom’s journey and highlights the company’s continued success in bringing sustainable British-made sleep products to customers around the world.
