LES HAWKS TIRENT DE L’ARRIÈRE CONTRE LES CANADIANS

Les Hawks ont conservé le meilleur pour la fin contre les Colts de Cornwall. Ils ont éliminé leurs opposants lors de la septième et dernière rencontre des quarts de finale le 27 mars, en comp- tant neuf buts sans riposte. Mais en demi-finales contre les Canadians, les Hawks tiraient de l’arrière 2-0 après deux parties. Trois jours après leur victoire contre les Colts, les Hawks se retrouvaient à Carleton Place pour affronter les Canadians. Ces derniers dominent le championnat de la ligue CCHL depuis la saison 2013-14. Lors de la première joute contre les Cana- dians le vendredi 30 mars, ces derniers ont contrôlé les deux premières périodes en comptant quatre buts. Puis, en troisième période, l’équipe de Carleton Place s’en est remise à un jeu défensif. Les Hawks ont alors tenté de remonter la pente, mais n’ont compté que deux buts, s’inclinant lors de cette première rencontre. Matthew Petizian, qui a effectué d’excellents arrêts, avait repris sa place dans le but des Hawks. De retour à domicile, les Hawks et leurs partisans ont subi une défaite crève-cœur en perdant 3 à 2. Jusqu’à 5 min 43 s de la troisième période, l’équipe de Hawkes- bury menait 2 à 0, les deux buts ayant été comptés par Alec Taillon assisté, les deux fois, par Tyler Boivin. The 2018 Central Region Midget AAA Championship kicked off in Rockland on Monday, April 2 at the CIH Arena. A total of six teams will compete all week long in Rockland, until Sunday, April 8, in 19 games. The tournament is part of the road to the TELUS Cup, since the gold medalist team will compete in the National TELUS Cup. The opening ceremony took place on Monday night at the CIH Arena. Toronto and Sudbury competed against each other during the first game of the tournament that same afternoon. During the opening ceremony, each of the six teams playing in the tournament was announced onto the ice. Rockland Councillor Jean-Marc Lalonde welcomed all the guests to Clarence-Rockland. “I want to wish all of you the best of luck. Enjoy the games because this is a very important midget hockey tournament,” he said. “I hope you all enjoy your stay here.” The Rockland Nats AAA Midget team played their first game on Monday night as well, against the Waterloo Wolves. The Nats took home their first win of the tournament, beating the Wolves 2-0. Nats’ goaltender, Justin Lee, stopped all 23 shots that came his way. At press time, the Nats faced off against the Hawkesbury Hawks on Tuesday night. Games will be happening every day this week, during the afternoon and in the eve- ning, until Sunday. In what could only be termed a good old fashioned shellacking, the Hawkesbury Hawks pasted the Cornwall Colts by a score of 9 to zero, on Tuesday, March 27. They were off to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Place Canadians on Friday, March 30, where they were beaten by a score of 4 to 2. Then, on Saturday, they hosted the CPCs and lost a heart-breaker 3-3 after leading 2-0 for over 45 minutes of play. —photo Michel Lamy

l’équipe locale n’a pas compté. Les Hawks affrontaient de nouveau les Canadians à Carleton Place, en soirée le mardi 3 avril, soit après l’heure de tombée de ce journal.
CENTRAL REGION MIDGET AAA TOURNAMENT TAKES THE ICE IN ROCKLAND
Le championnat régional central midget AAA se déroule à l’aréna CIH à Rockland. Le premier match, Toronto contre Sudbury, a été joué l’après-midi du lundi 2 avril. La cérémonie d’ouverture s’est déroulée ce soir- là, suivie par le premier match de l’équipe midget AAA des Nats de Rockland. Les Nats ont battu les Wolves de Waterloo 2-0. Le match final pour la médaille d’or se déroulera le dimanche 8 avril à 15 h 30, suivi par la cérémonie de clôture. on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 p.m. against Toronto, on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. against Sudbury, and at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 6 against Ajax-Pickering.
at 12 p.m. and the gold medal game at 3:30 p.m. Closing ceremonies and award give outs will take place after the last game.
