" ( IlOWJi HIM WITH MANY ITtOWTVS” (Words by Bridges and Thring. Music by Elvey)

is taken from Revelation 19:12: “His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns. . . .” The musical setting was composed by George J. Elvey in 1868. Mathew Bridges was originally a member of the Church of England. He was a noted poet, publishing sev eral volumes of successful poems. He was bom in England July 14, 1800, and died in Quebec, Canada, October 6 , 1894. Godfrey Thring was bora in Eng land, March 25, 1823, became a Church of England Rector, compiled the Church of England Hymn Book 1880, and died September 13, 1903. George Job Elvey was born March 27, 1816, and became proficient as an organist and composer. For forty-one years he was organist at St. George’s Chapel (attended by royalty) in Windsor, England. He died December 9, 1893. Words and music of this hymn were written by the same person, although most hymnals credit the words to “ Colin Sterne” and the music to “ Earnest Nichol.” The first name is simply the syllables of “ Ernest Nichol” given backwards. The song was written in 1896. Its composer, Henry Ernest Nichol, was a distin guished English writer. Southern California residents and visitors are reminded of the special MUSICALES directed by Phil Kerr. Every Monday night at 7:30 P.M. in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, and the second Sunday afternoon of each month in the new auditorium of the BIOLA Campus in La Mirada at 2:30 P.M. Always a rich inspiration in musical testimony. W E 'V E A S TO R Y TO TELL TO TH E N A T IO N S (Words and Music by Henry Ernest Nichal)

Many have never heard because there has been no way for them to hear. rr. . . and how shall they believe in Him o f whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? and how shall they preach, except they be sent? . . (Rom. 10:14, 15). The Christian’s will can provide the means for thorough training in handling the Word of God for consecrated young men and women who have said, ". . . Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6: 8). When you remember The Bible Institute of Los Angeles in your will you have the assurance that all or a portion of your estate will be a continuation of your testimony for Christ in this training of hundreds of dedicated young lives for world-wide Christian service. A simple inquiry addressed to our Field Department will bring the needed information relative to the steps necessary in making your will.
