M&M charity barbecue

M&MMeat Shop in Embrun held its annual charity barbecue onMay 11 in front of the store. This is the 25th year M&Mhas held the charity barbecue, for which it donates all the food, and gives proceeds to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Over 430 franchise shops in Canada participated, along with thousands of volunteers, and in 24 years the initiative has raised over $23million for research. Les élèves de l’École élémentaire catholique St-Joseph de Russell ont participé à un rodéo à bicyclette. Cette activité a été organisée avec l’aide des propriétaires de VéloXpress d’Embrun dans le but de sensibiliser les jeunes à la signalisation, à l’importance du port du casque et aux signaux à utiliser lors de promenades. Ce sont 200 vélos qui ont pris d’assaut la cour d’école pour suivre les conseils des experts. En après-midi, les élèves de la 3 e année à la 6 e ont eu droit à une randonnée sur la piste cyclable en direction d’Embrun. Lors de cette activité de sécurité à bicyclette, le Club Optimiste de Russell a offert à chaque élève une lumière pour leur vélo.

MOREWOOD | Once again the public is invited to experience a Victorian after- noon tea and garden tour at the home of Claire Desroches, aka Lady Claire Spencer Forsyth, as a benefit for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The co-host is Marie-Claire Ivanski, aka Lady Claire Lambert Shakespeare and it will be held Saturday, June 22, with three sittings, special draws for attend- ees wearing hats, culinary delights and live entertainment. Last year’s event was highly success- ful with all sittings sold out. It is one of many events organized with the help of Ivanski to benefit the foundation. Les préparatifs du BBQ annuel de l’École élémentaire catholique Saint-Isidore, qui aura lieu le 11 juin, sont commencés.
