Madison Trust 2025 Project Updates

2025 PROJECT UPDATES

SUSTAINABLE NUTRIENT RECOVERY • Student researchers advanced this year’s nutrient‑recovery work, including a 10‑week REU project where Keyvan Harris and Bella Fong developed promising micromotor technology and presented results at ACS Fall 2025 and the REU symposium. • The team proposed next‑stage concepts at the Virginia Academy of Science 2025 meeting and is preparing a manuscript as we conclude the project’s first objective. • Published a peer‑reviewed article on biomass‑based IMPACT SPACE • Hosted guest artists Vanessa Hernandez Cruz and Slowdanger, whose technology‑supported residencies will culminate in student works on the Forbes Center mainstage in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. • Expanded creative capacity through new technologies— including motion‑capture suits, sound‑generating gloves, and specialized software—now used by students, faculty, and visiting artists. • Supported student innovation through course‑ integrated projects showcased at Harrisonburg First Friday and upcoming New Voices in Dance, and by onboarding a student assistant with technology operations. $ 12,500 Invested
