EXTENT Landslide extent can be defined by susceptibility and incidence, which are defined and depicted in Figure 4.22. Event magnitude is also dependent on topography; landslide risk is higher in areas with steeper slopes. Given the gentle topography of most of the county, the magnitude of any landslides in the planning area would be minor. The event that occurred in Holly Springs in 2003 defines the potential extent of damages that may occur because of landslide in Wake County.
