Public Education and Awareness
Develop a policy for the installation of warning signs concerning lightning, hail and thunderstorms at outdoor public facilities and begin retro-fitting existing spaces. Expand the Town’s existing fire/smoke alarm program for retro-fitting older structures to include CO alarms. Have a Town staff member that is a Certified Floodplain Manager. Issue an annual local proclamation for Severe Weather Awareness Week and conduct associated promotional activities. Incentivize the use of cool roofing products through the Town’s Water Allocation Policy point system. Implement GovDelivery - email and SMS notification system for real time alerts on traffic advisories and closures, emergencies, etc.
