The Liwa Dates Festival is an annual reminder of the important role that the date palm has played throughout Emirati history. It is also a powerful way to experience authentic Emirati culture and heritage up close. يشكّل مهرجان ليوا للرُّطَب موعدًا سنويًا يستحضر المكانة الراسخة التي احتلتها نخلة التمر في تاريخ دولة الإمارات، كما يتيح نافذة أصيلة للتعرّف عن قرب إلى الثقافة الإماراتية وتراثها العريق.
يوليو بمنطقة الظفرة في 14 انطلقت فعاليات المهرجان فـــــــــــــــي أبوظبي، تحت رعاية سمو الشيخ منصور بن زايد آل نهيان، نائب رئيس الدولة، نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء، رئيس ديوان الرئاسة. وأقيمت الدورة الثانية والعشرون من مهرجان ليوا للرُّطَب خلال يوليو، بتنظيم هيئة أبوظبي للتراث، وشهدت 23 إلى 14 الفترة من جائزةً، تجاوزت قيمتها 295 مســـــــــــــــابقةً، رُصد لها 23 هذا العام الإجمالية ثمانية ملايين درهم. وتتواصل احتفالات موسم الرُّطَب مع مهرجان العين للتمـــــــــــــــور، الذي يُقام في منطقة العين بأبوظبي يوليو، قبل أن يُختتم الموسم بمهرجان 31 إلى 25 خلال الفترة من .2026 أغسطس 9 إلى 3 الوثبة للتمور، المقرر تنظيمه من وأعرب ســـــــــــــــعادة عبدالله مبارك المهيري، مدير عام هيئة أبوظبي للتراث بالإنابة، عن بالغ تقديره للرعاية الكريمة التي يوليها سمو الشـــــــــــــــيخ منصور بن زايد آل نهيان للمهرجان، والتي أسهمت في عامًا 22 مواصلة مهرجان ليوا للرُّطَب مسيرة نجاحه على مدى متتالية، حتى غدا أحد أكبر مهرجانات التمور وأكثرها حضورًا في دولة الإمارات. وأضاف أن الاحتفاء بموسم الرُّطَب يستمد جذوره من الإرث الذي أرساه المغفور له الشـــــــــــــــيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، الذي ارتقى بالنخلة إلى منزلة الرمز الوطني، فجعلها عنوانًا للعطاء والتنمية، ورسّخ حضورها في قلب المجتمع الإماراتي. وأشار إلى أن هذه الرؤية تواصلت في ظل قيادة صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيس الدولة، ليغدو صون التراث، ونقله إلى الأجيال، ودعم الزراعة، وتعزيز استدامتها، ركائز وطنية تنسجم مع تطلعات الدولة نحو ترسيخ أمنها الغذائي. وشدد المهيري على التزام هيئة أبوظبي للتراث بمواصلة تطوير مهرجاناتها الزراعية، انطلاقًا من رؤيتها الداعمة للقطاع الزراعي، وتشجيع المزارعين على تبني أفضل الممارسات، وترسيخ مبادئ الاســـــــــــــــتدامة البيئية، بما يكفل تنمية الموارد الوطنية وفق أرقى المعايير العالمية. وأضاف أن مهرجان ليوا للرُّطَب، إلى جانب سائر المهرجانات والبرامج التي تنظمها الهيئة، يظل جسرًا يصل الأجيال الجديدة بتراثها، ويعمّق ارتباطها بهويتها الوطنية.
The Festival Kicked off on 14 July 2026 in Al Dhafra region, Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The 22 nd edition of Liwa Dates [semi-ripe dates] Festival ran from 14 to 23 July. This year’s successful edition was organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority; the festival featured 23 competitions with 295 prizes totalling more than AED 8 million. Al Ain Dates Festival is next in the line-up running from 25 July to 31 July in the Al Ain region of Abu Dhabi. Lastly, we finish up the short season of rutab with Al Wathba Dates, which runs from 3 to 9 August 2026. His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General, Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority expressed his appreci- ation for the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose continued support has enabled the Liwa Dates Festival to build on 22 consecutive years of success, estab- lishing it as one of the UAE’s largest and most prominent dates festivals. Al Muhairi said that celebrating the rutab season is a rich legacy established by the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, who elevated the palm tree into a symbol of generosity and development and enshrined it at the heart of Emirati society. That legacy, he not- ed, has been carried forward as a national commitment by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This vision has contributed to preserving our heritage and passing it down through generations, while supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing its sustainability in line with the nation’s food security goals. HE Al Muhairi reaffirmed the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority’s commitment to the ongoing development of its agricultural fes- tivals in line with its longstanding vision of supporting the ag- ricultural sector, encouraging farmers to adopt innovative best practices, and promoting environmental sustainability to en- sure continued growth and sustainable development of nation- al resources in accordance with the highest international stand- ards. He added that the Liwa Dates Festival, together with the Authority’s other festivals and programmes, serves as a vital bridge connecting younger generations with their national her- itage and strengthening their sense of identity.
