Directorate: Estates & Development Directorate Responsible to: Head of Projects Grade: Grade: 8 Incremental Scale: Yes Salary in the range: £41,212 to £49,149 Hours: Full time

Role Summary:

To undertake a professional lead and management role focused on preparation, planning, implementation and review of planned programmes of improvements, refurbishment, remodelling and new build projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Work Processes and results In support of the Projects Team: • To oversee and undertake the lead where appropriate, for the design, costing procurement and development of building and capital projects related to the Keele University Estate. • To project manage individual projects from inception to completion ensuring that stakeholders are fully involved/informed at all stages and that their requirements are met. • To manage contracts in accordance with financial regulations and procedures. • To ensure compliance with all legislation, regulations and codes of practice relating to building and services including health and safety and CDM regulations. • To ensure that carbon emissions, environmental and life cycle implications are fully considered during the design and construction processes, through consultation with colleagues within the Directorate and the University. • Assist the Head of Projects with implementation and development of QA procedures and other team wide initiatives/protocols. • To develop project reports and forecasting as required and present to Estates and Development leadership team.

Customer Service • To provide a high level technical advisory service to clients, ensuring that project briefs are developed to be comprehensive, cost

efficient, in line with corporate standards and to client specification. • To monitor and evaluate progress against customer requirements. • To produce appropriate project monitoring, update and variation reports. • To produce Auto CAD drawings to help articulate a Project Sponsor’s Brief.

Planning & Organising • To ensure that projects are managed to be delivered within agreed timescales and budgets.

Financial Management • To prepare budget estimates and cost plans at early stages of a project to inform the University decision making process. • To manage allocated budget effectively and control all related expenditure to ensure delivery of targets/objectives within budgets, including cost reporting and forecasting of outturn costs and variances and implementation of change control procedures. • To contribute to financial planning and budgetary statements for the individual projects, wider team and assisting the Head of Projects as and when required. Team Work • Represent the University externally at contractor meetings or internally as appropriate. • To consult with the operational team and to incorporate the outcome of consultancies with them into capital projects • Maintain Health & Safety responsibilities on individual projects, including client responsibilities under CDM regulations, plant and equipment.
