RAC VIRTUAL CONVENING: QUESTIONS & OBSERVATIONS
In August of 2022, the network held a virtual convening where RAC partners shared their experiences, challenges, and successes. Guests asked questions and provided feedback on the model and on what was important to share with the field at large. Convening guests included:
- Molly Rideout, MASS MoCA - Libby Barbee, Colorado Creative Industries - Will Bowling, University of Wyoming Art Museum - Juli Goss, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art - Michelle Dezember, CAM St. Louis - Annie Henninger, City of Glenwood Springs
Guests were asked to share any big questions they were left with as well as overall thoughts on the RAC project.
To guide responses, we asked:
• • •
What will you take with you from this?
What is most important to share about this work?
What gaps do you see?
“When participating in the Rural Arts Connect convening, it was a joy to witness the strong relationships and connections that formed during the project. It was clear that each site (large and small) valued the partnership and had uniquely contributed to the network. I think it’s
really important to share the roles, responsibilities, and expectations that either were established in the beginning or formed during the project. This would help other sites hoping to establish partnerships. This project also reinforced the power of shared professional development across organizations. Individuals were able to learn together and from one another, and also meet peers faced with similar struggles. It seems like this helped folks not feel isolated even if they were a one-person organization or geographically distant from peers.”
