A Life Well Sewn I was born in Cloyna, near Murgon, Queensland, and raised on a farm I truly loved. Life was simple and hardworking. We had cattle, horses, pigs, and of course, the cows we’d milk—thirty of them—every morning before the sun was even up. It was just what we did, part of the rhythm of life. In my early years, I worked at the local post office during the day. But at night, I’d sit down with needle and thread, sewing wedding dresses and adding delicate edging to dollies. I’ve always loved knitting and doing fancy work. I was a dressmaker through and through—thanks to my mum, who taught me everything I know. Back in those days, I also loved dancing at the local halls. I’ve never been a big book reader, but enjoy flicking through magazines.
When I was younger one of my most memorable holidays was flying around Australia, at Easter. But no matter where I’ve been, it’s the memories of my family that makes me smile, like the time my brothers gave Hector the pig some beer, he couldn't walk afterward! I still remember that. My life has been stitched together with love, laughter, and a whole lot of hard work— and I wouldn’t change a thing.
