The result will be a loop with the same circumference as the orig inal, linked to another loop with twice the original circumference.] We now have two links. We will call the large one the link of love. You will notice that it now easily encircles the globe on the table below.

secure financial profit for those who advance this unholy business. Under the guise of doing good, they work an evil that results in lowering the plane of living. The liquor interests overlook the fact that excessive drinking is tri fling with deadly poison, the poison of serpents.. “At the last” (Prov. 23:32) the thing these propagandists advo cate “biteth like a serpent,” and has the agonizing effect of the adder’s sting. Solomon, inspired by the spirit of God, wrote facts. We might ask who it is who inspires the myths of the propagandists who advocate drinking! II. T he W ord of the P rophets (Isa. 5:20-23; Hos, 4 :11 ; Joel 3:2, 3) Isaiah pronounces “woe” upon those who miscall things to the hurt of the people, and this is one of the charges against the liquor propagandist. One of the most severe arraignments this prophet brings is against those who “ call evil good, and good evil.” “Woe unto them,” the prophet cries. They put darkness for light, they deny the truth, and they trample upon justice, and thus they pervert the truth. Hosea declares that the understand ing is ruined by “whoredom and wine” (Hos. 4:11; cf^R. V.). These two evils usually are found together, each con tributing to the other, and both con suming the partaker. Sensuality of the worst type goes hand in hand with the excessive use of beverage alcohol. Joel describes the day of the Lord wherein the judgments of God will fall upon t h o s e who have rebelled against Him (Joel 3:2, 3). Among the charges against them is the misuse of His people who have been sold for money—and that money used to pro cure wine fbr drunkenness. Thus the prophets unite their voices with Solomon’s in denouncing the in temperate use of strong drink to the undoing of the senses, the ruin of the understanding, and the degrading of the users.

Proverbs 21:17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor mans he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich. 23:32 At the last it biteth like a ser pent, and stingeth like an adder. Isaiah 5 <20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put dark- ness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight I 22 Woe ymto them that a^e mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to min gle strong drink < 23 Which justify the wicked for re ward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Hosea 4<11 Whoredom and wine and ..pew wine take away the heart. , Joel-3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehosbapbat, and will ,plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. 3 And they have cast lots for my peo ple; and have given a hoy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. Ephesians 5<18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; hut he filled with the Spirit. GOLDEN TEXT ; «If sinners entice thee, consent thou not” (Prov. 1:10). DEVOTIONAL READING: Prov. 3:13-18.
