Six Bottles We’re Pouring This Fall OUR FAVORITE REDS FLOWERS SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR 2023 Sonoma Coast, California

DRIN RECI

ree Reds. ree Whites. One Corkscrew. We have selected six wines we would happily serve at our own table: three reds with enough character for autumn dinners and three whites that prove cooler weather does not require abandoning the chilled side of the wine list. Five stars means buy two bottles. Four and a half means pour generously and hide whatever remains from the guests.

is graceful Pinot Noir brings together red raspberry, tart plum, black tea and a faint woodland earthiness. Coastal acidity keeps the wine composed, while its silky texture gives it enough presence for dinner without overwhelming the plate. Serve it with roasted duck, cedar-plank salmon, mushroom pasta or pork tenderloin. Flowers describes its Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir as shaped by bright red fruit, mineral character and coastal acidity. AUSTIN HOPE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2023 Paso Robles, California Austin Hope produces the large, condent Cabernet many people expect from Paso Robles. e 2023 opens with black currant and ripe blackberry, followed by violet, mocha and dried spice. e tannins are substantial but polished, giving the wine structure without turning each sip into a dental examination. is is the bottle for grilled steak, braised short ribs, lamb chops or a wedge of aged cheddar aer dinner. Give it a little time in a decanter before serving.

Wine shops may carry an adjacent vintage of these bottles. Ask for the current release and remember that vintage dierences are part of the pleasure. ey also provide an excellent explanation for purchasing another bottle in the name of research.
