NKS & IPES PÈPPOLI CHIANTI CLASSICO 2024 Tuscany, Italy
CLOUDY BAY SAUVIGNON BLANC 2025 Marlborough, New Zealand
Cloudy Bay remains one of Marlborough’s most recognizable Sauvignon Blancs for good reason. e 2025 combines peach, elderower, lime and lemon with white nectarine, sea salt and a clean citrus nish. It is crisp without becoming sharp and aromatic without smelling like someone overturned the herb garden. Pour it with the Gulf Shrimp Linguine and Butternut Squash Cream. e citrus and mineral qualities brighten the shrimp and prevent the sauce from dominating. It also belongs beside oysters, goat cheese, ceviche and grilled snapper. Cloudy Bay’s ocial notes describe the 2025 release and its citrus, stone-fruit and saline character.
Pèppoli is the cheerful Italian at the table who arrives with stories, appetite and no interest in leaving early. Made primarily from Sangiovese, the 2024 oers cherry, raspberry, pomegranate and violet, followed by so tannins and a savory nish. It has enough freshness for tomato sauce and enough depth for roast chicken, sausage, pizza or a handsome charcuterie board. is is an especially useful bottle to keep on hand because it works with dinner even when dinner was assembled with more enthusiasm than planning. Marchesi Antinori provides the vintage and tasting details for Pèppoli 2024. OUR FAVORITE WHITES ROMBAUER CARNEROS CHARDONNAY 2024 Carneros, California Rombauer Chardonnay is generous, creamy and entirely comfortable with its own reputation. e 2024 oers yellow peach, ripe melon, citrus, vanilla and a buttery nish, balanced by enough acidity to keep the wine from becoming heavy. is is our choice for the Lobster and Pumpkin Ravioli featured in this issue. e wine’s rich texture complements the lobster and squash, while its citrus notes cut through the cream sauce. It is also excellent with crab cakes, roast chicken and buttery seafood dishes. Rombauer’s 2024 fact sheet details the fruit, vanilla, buttery notes and bright acidity.
JERMANN PINOT GRIGIO Friuli, Italy
Anyone who dismissed Pinot Grigio aer one too many forgettable glasses should allow Jermann to reopen the case. is Friulian version is dry, fragrant and fuller than the typical patio pour, with ripe fruit, a so texture and a clean nish. It has enough body for seafood pasta and risotto, yet remains refreshing beside grilled sh, scallops or mushroom dishes. Serve it well chilled, though not arctic. Wine should be allowed to reveal its character before condensation turns the label into papier- mâché. Jermann describes its Pinot Grigio as dry, fruity, full-bodied and especially suited to seafood and mushroom dishes.
