Rock & Fossil Clinic We celebrated our 30th annual Rock & Fossil Clinic on October 14 with a day of free, family-friendly geoscience fun. At virtual sessions, participants learned about mining using chocolate chip cookies, created topographical maps with potatoes, and got a behind-the-scenes tour of the University of Alberta’s paleomagnetism lab. In-person activities were held at the University of Alberta Earth Sciences Building. •Professional geoscientists and experts from the Edmonton Geological Society identified rocks and fossils brought in by participants. •The Alberta Geological Survey gave hands-on workshops on earthquakes and aquifers. •Participants touched meteorites and dinosaur fossils at open houses hosted by the University of Alberta’s Mineralogy & Petrology Collection and Paleontology Museum.
