MORE FUNDING SUPPORT FOR JOBS CENTRE
The Prescott and Russell Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) received more federal funding to help maintain its InterActions Program to help people with disabilities to find work. InterActions Program. “This contribution is a vital lever for our organization,” stated CSEPR President Carl Portelance, “and, most importantly, for the individuals we support. It allows us to continue changing lives and building a more inclusive community.” The funding for the InterActions Program comes through the federal Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. The CSEPR program assists Prescott and Russell residents who have a disability in their search for employment through job placement and
also efforts to improve their employment skills and improve their confidence in see- king employment. The focus of the program, according to the CSEPR. is on “concrete, person-centred interventions that promote sustainable workforce integration, including skills development, personalized coaching, and long-term employment support. The extra federal funding will allow the CSEPR to add 20 more participants to its
InterActions Program. This will mean a total of 137 people helped by the program since it was created in 2023. According to CSEPR InterActions representative Josee Lalande reported that 62 of the program’s partici- pants are now employable. The CSEPR maintains five offices in the Eastern Ontario region, in Hawkes- bury, Rockland, Embrun, Casselman, and Alexandria.
The non-profit agency that helps people in Prescott find work received some extra funding support from the federal government for one of its programs. The accused was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 8, 2026. Police say the investigation remains ongoing. The OPP thanked residents for their conti- nued vigilance and cooperation, noting that community assistance plays an important role in maintaining public safety and sup- porting investigations. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or who may have photographs that could assist investigators is asked to contact the Russell County OPP at 613-443- 4499 or the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Information leading to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

An Ottawa man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into two break-ins at businesses in Russell Township. Over the past several months, members of the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), inves- tigated two break-and-enter incidents that occurred at commercial properties within the municipality. As a result of the investigation, Edward Fogarty, 44, of Ottawa, has been charged with break and enter a place to commit an indictable offence (two counts), mischief under $5,000 (two counts), possession of break-in instruments (two counts), and disguise with intent (two counts).
