We offer a complete package of geotechnical and environmental services with a focus on problem solving and adding value to our client’s projects. In the project planning phase EEI provides geotechnical investigations which explore foundation and earthwork options to best meet the needs of the project with increased cost efficiency. Our environmental group focuses on the practical needs of our clients while making sure the regulations are being met. Our specialty design group offers wall design, shoring and many other specialty geotechnical designs with a comprehensive site review approach. Then during construction, our degreed staff conducts inspection and testing with a problem solving attitude that truly differentiates EEI. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR TEAM: EEI’s staff is composed of 85 professionals including 10 seasoned Professional Engineers and 5 Professional Geologists. Ev- eryone at EEI understands our mission of providing value centered service to our clients which allows us all to do our work with a friendly and professional attitude. THOUGHTS ON CURRENT MARKET OR INDUSTRY: I am very optimistic about the current market. I often view our geotechnical investigation work flow as a barometer of the industry, and the volume of projects in 2014 is highly encouraging. WHAT MOTIVATES YOU: To create a company that is made up of people focused on doing outstanding work and truly caring not only about the work, but each other. I truly believe that the culture of a company drives the way it performs, and I am responsible for building and maintaining that positive culture. PERSON YOU MOST ADMIRE CURRENTLY: My father (also Ward McMasters). The way I try to run EEI is a reflection of my father’s calm and concise way in which he handles everything. THOUGHTS ON CURRENT MARKET OR INDUSTRY: Commercial Real Estate in Central PA has been trending upwards for the last few years, espe- cially in the retail sector. This is positive news for property owners. This uptick is primarily because retailers are back in deal mode, and with limited new construction in previous years and lack of new product, it has forced retailers to lease existing vacancies lowering our vacancy rates and increasing demand. This in turn will create a need for developers to build new product, putting land deals back in full swing. Investment sales have also seen continued growth with lending rates remaining low, which continues to push cap rates down for investment grade product. WHAT MOTIVATES YOU: My passion for the trade and the industry motivates me. I enjoy being an intricate part of the process that changes the landscape of a neighborhood. Developing the relationships, crafting the deal, and ultimately being a part of change that brings employment and new energy to a market is an invigorating experience.
