tion of God as Lord and Master. And this is exactly what was given. “As captain of the host of the Lord am I now come.” He was there not merely to assist Israel against the Canaanites, not simply to second Josh ua’s efforts, but also to take charge, to assume full command, to be Captain, Mas ter, Lord. The practical power of this truth is evident. It is the secret of peace in Christian experience, and o f ever-increas ing peace in proportion as the lordship of Christ is realized. —W . H. Still while watching and while listening, work for Me with all your might, Thus you’ll prove that well you love Me, and to serve Me you delight. —A. E. R. JULY 31 Recognizing the Lordship of Christ “A s captain o f the host of the Lord am l now come” (Josh. 5:14). Israel had been redeemed; and, after the long wanderings and backsliding of the wil derness-life, was' again in covenant with God on redemption ground. The ordinances o f the covenant were once more fulfilled and the old position resumed. What was now needed ? They required a new revela tion, a new and distinct lesson, a fresh and definite step. But what was this ? Not the revelation o f God as Redeemer; they had that in Egypt. It was not the revelation of God as Teacher; they had that at Sinai. What was really necessary was the revela- A re Y ou P ray in g for RUSSIA? If so, we say, “ It is very good.” If not, we say, “ Begin to pray.” A great spiritual battle is fought between atheism and religion in Russia. The vanguard of the army of Christ is the All Russian Evangelical Christian Union, consisting of thousands of churches and groups preaching the gos pel not so much from the pulpits as in prisons. We are only the representative body in America of the All Russian Evangelical Christian Union. The Work of the Union: (1) It takes care of missionaries, preach ers, and generally of Christians suf fering from persecution and phys ical famine. (2) It takes care of millions of Russians outside of Russia, who suffer. from the spiritual famine, by publishing and spreading among them Bibles, New Testaments and evangelistic literature. Dear Reader: No other, organization In Amer ica does such a unique work of evangelization for the Russian people. This work needs your prayer and your help. Your help through us can reach brethren suffering in exile. - Do not fail to help. Do you want to have unique and most complete information about the evangelical movement in Russia? Send for a book: “ In the Cauldron of Russia." It has 270 nages,. 23 pictures, illus trating the life of Christians. Its price is only $1.50. All the proceeds go to the needs of the missions. The Christian Herald says: “ It is ncft merely another book about Russia. It is like a chap ter from the Book of Acts.” The best comments of the Sunday School Times, Evangelical Christian, Christian Evangelist and others. The best picture of the spiritual life in Russia, together with autobiography of the Founder of the All Russian Evangelical Chris tian Union.
