Dans le nouveau RONA J. Lalonde & Fils, les portraits des propriétaires de l’entreprise, depuis le fondateur Joseph Lalonde, trônent fièrement dans l’allée menant aux bureaux administratifs. Pour Francine Lalonde-Carrière, la sœur du copropriétaire Robert Lalonde et la tante de France et Serge, contempler ces photographies réveillent à la fois souvenirs et fierté. C’est elle qui les a installés la semaine précédant l’ouverture. « Quand j’ai posé la photo de mon père j’ai eu un pincement au cœur. Il me semble qu’il m’a regardé. En les observant tous, je me sens tellement fière. Je me dis, c’est ça l’évolution. Cette capacité d’accomplissement c’est ça la plus grosse qualité de notre famille. Les deux enfants (Serge et France) sont arrivés en 2012 et apportent la modernité. C’est le savoir-faire qui se passe de génération en génération et cette succursale, c’est leur contribution à l’entreprise. Moi je suis l’aînée, et de mon temps, les filles se dirigeaient plutôt vers l’enseignement et les garçons dans la quincaillerie, mais on a toujours supporté nos frères. Ils étaient en sandwich entre nous et c’est comme ça qu’on les aime.
One picture is worth more than 1000 words... Inside the new Rockland branch of RONA J. Lalonde & Fils, framed portraits of the past owner-operators of the local franchise, since the days of founder, Joseph Lalonde, hang proudly in a short hallway leading to the administrative office. For Francine Lalonde-Carrière, sister to Robert Lalonde and the aunt of France and Serge Lalonde, the current trio of co-owners, standing in front of these photos and thinking about the history behind them recalls many proud and happymemories. She herself looked after setting up the photo gallery a week before the official opening of the new Rockland outlet. «When I placed the photo of my father, I felt a little tugging of the heart,» she remarked. «It seemed that he was looking right at me just then. Looking at all of this, I feel so very proud. ‘It’s evolution’ I tell myself. This ability to succeed is the greatest strength of our family. The children,» she added, referring to France and Serge Lalonde, «came on board in 2012 and were totally involved in all the modernizing and upgrading. This is the kind of experience and expertise that is passed on from one generation to another, and this building here is their contribution to the family business. Me, I’m one of the elders and, in my time, the girls were directed more towards teaching and homemaking and the boys to hardware and such. But we girls always supported our brothers. There was a bond of love and support between us all.»
