The $513.9-million, 3.8-mile project included more than 20 bridges, interchanges with state routes and Interstate 95, and comprehensive efforts to reduce environmental impact. Healthcare Best Project: Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Virginia The $956-million, LEED® Gold certified, Fort Belvoir Com- munity Hospital, was an inte- grated-design-bid-build project to meet Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) requirements.

In other news, Dewberry has recently hired Mike Watson as the company’s health and safety manager. In support of Dewberry’s ongoing initiative to increase safety awareness, Watson’s duties will include enhancing the existing health and safety program by ensuring standard operating procedures are maintained and followed, conducting audits, and manag- ing the accident investigation process. Watson has five years of expe- rience leading and managing several large-scale projects for general contracting and con- struction management firms. His expertise includes safety management systems; haz- ard identification and mitiga- tion; and compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. n
