Two people have been charged after

a traffic violation led to a drug seizure

Monday morning in Hawkesbury.

Ontario Provincial Police Constable

Jonathan Bouchard intercepted a red GMC

pick-up truck shortly after 7:30 a.m.

February 6 after the vehicle failed to stop

for a red light at Main Street East and John

Street. Two occupants were found to be in

possessionofaquantityofmarijuanaworth

about $2,300. More than 2,000 illegal

cigarettes were also found in the vehicle.

The driver, Allen Diabo, 51, of

Kahnawake, was charged with possession

for the purpose of trafficking, possession

of unmarked cigarettes, and failing to stop

at a red light. The passenger, Holly Glover,

57, of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, was charged

with possession for the purpose of

trafficking. Both were released and are

scheduled to appear in court on March 13

in L’Orignal.

Between January 30 and February 6, the

HawkesburyO.P.P.detachmentresponded

to 245 occurrences. Officers investigated

one break and enter, seven thefts and one

assault. Eight RIDE initiatives were

conducted.Therewerenoimpaireddriving

related charges. Out of these 245

occurrences, 30 were concluded with

charges being laid.

February 4, officers received

information that a man was contravening

his bail conditions. Upon arrival at a

Régent Street residence, they found a

Hawkesbury man hiding in a closet.

François Roy, 29, of Nelson Street East,

was charged with three counts of failure to

comply with an undertaking. February 6,

duringabailhearing,Royspoketoaperson

he was refrained from communicating

with,

the

detachment

reports.

Consequently, he was charged again with

failing to comply with an undertaking.
