The Nation Municipality may be getting some of its drinking water supply from Clarence-Rockland in the future. Clarence-Rockland council discussed a resolution tabled by Mayor Guy Desjar- dins during the March 6 public session. The resolution concerns a possible arrangement between the City of Clarence-Rockland and The Nation to provide that municipality with some of its drinking water supply. Councillors spent between 10 to 15 mi- nutes discussing the idea and what kind of safeguards would be necessary to ensure that Clarence-Rockland residents were still assured of an adequate water supply. Leave of absence extension Diane Choinière has a further extension to her leave of absence as Ward 8 councillor for the City of Clarence-Rockland. Council approved a motion from Mayor Guy Desjardins during the March 6 public session to extend Choi- nière’s leave of absence to Aug. 31 of this year. Choinière has been absent from her council and committee duties while she deals with a personal medical matter. One priority of the study is to determine if Clarence-Rockland has a surplus water capacity that would allow it to provide drin- king water to The Nation. Right now the city is near to production capacity at its own water treatment plant and any further demands on the plant may require upgrading of both the facility and its distribution system. Administration will present a detailed report at a future council meeting. The report will include recommendations on a possible cost-sharing agreement with The Nation for any upgrades to the Clarence-Rockland water treatment plant and distribution sys-
