Tasmanian Hospitality Review - April/May 2026

Australian Tourism Awards INDUSTRY FEATURE

Tassie takes home 10 medal haul at Qantas Australian Tourism Awards Tasmanian tourism operators returned home with a total of 10 medals awarded at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Fremantle recently, including two golds, one silver and seven bronze. The CEO of the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, Amy Hills, said that this recognition not only continues to cement Tasmania as home to some of the nation’s highest quality products and experiences, but also speaks to the strength of Tasmania’s regions which boast many of the award-winning products and experiences. In a stand-out moment for the night, northern Tasmanian accommodation operator, The Dragonfly Inn, won gold in the Hosted Accommodation category for the third consecutive year marking their entrance into the much-coveted Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame – one of only two businesses nation-wide to do so this year. Tasmania’s second gold winner, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, claimed yet another top gong in the Major Tour & Transport Operators category,

adding to their impressive total of 15 Australian Tourism Awards throughout the business’ history. First-time national finalist, eGuide, based in the state’s north west claimed silver in the Tour & Transport Operators category, a nod to the many incredible tour operators in Tasmania. Tasmania’s tally of bronze winners included nature tourism operators, events and cultural experiences, world-class accommodation and top-tier hospitality offerings.
