“Your Body Was Made to Move!” MORE MOVEMENT, MORE ENERGY

Do you sometimes feel sluggish, tired, achy, sore or have low energy? You could be suffering from some basic physical problems. If you sit still for long hours in your car, at your job or at home watching TV, you are hurting your body over time. Without frequent movement, your muscles waste away, joints become stiff and normal chemical processes in your body change. In fact, your circulation and lymphatic systems slow down causing a backup of toxic wastes, such as cholesterol, that are normally produced and excreted.

There are many studies that show changes occur in the human body with less movement. Lack of movement and poor posture are the most frequent causes of low back pain, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain and pain in the hips / knees or legs. Slumped posture actually changes the shape of your spine, closes the joints of your shoulders, tightens the tissues around the hips and produces a host of other problems. If you have any aches or pains that are keeping you from your daily activities, contact us today to schedule an appointment.

Patient Success Spotlight

A pleasant experience!

“I recently found myself in need of out patient physical therapy to assist with recovering from knee replacement surgery. I made the absolute best decision when I choose to go to Kerrville Physical Therapy Center. Personally, I don’t use the word “awesome” very frequently, but when describing Tom Nemky and his staff, this word is very appropriate. They

were ALL truly “awesome” and a pleasure to work with. They actually made the therapy a pleasant experience. The entire staff is very knowledgeable, caring, and willing to take as much time as necessary with patients. Kudos to you, Tom and your staff, for continuing to work with me until I could once again walk pain-free. If I’m ever in need of physical therapy again, there’s no question regarding where I will go. Thanks again!” - Cathy H.

Healthy Recipe: Vegetarian Chili

INGREDIENTS • 1 tsp garlic-herb seasoning blend • 1 tsp ground cumin • ⅛ tsp salt • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables • ¼ cup light sour cream • Fresh cilantro (optional) • ⅛ tsp chili powder (optional) • 1 tsp canola oil • 1 cup chopped onion • 1 cup green sweet pepper • 2 cloves garlic • 1 tsp bottled minced garlic

• 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes • 1 (8 ounce) can no-salt-added tomato sauce • 1 cup water • 4½ tsp chili powder

DIRECTIONS Lightly coat an unheated large saucepan or Dutch oven with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat over medium-high heat. Add oil; swirl to coat bottom of pan. Add onion, sweet pepper, and garlic to hot pan; cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until pepper is tender, stirring often. If necessary, reduce heat to prevent burning. Add undrained diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, the water, the chili powder, the seasoning blend, cumin, and salt. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Stir in beans and mixed vegetables. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 10 minutes more or until vegetables are tender. If desired, top individual servings with sour cream and/or cilantro and sprinkle with the chili powder.
