Job Title: Strategic Space & Property Manager School/Service: Estates Services and Capital Projects Grade: J Responsible to: Assistant Director of Estates Responsible for: Space & Property Management Team

• Manage and coordinate engagement with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external partners to develop briefs, feasibility/scoping documentation and associated business cases. • Work collaboratively with project delivery teams to ensure that client/ stakeholder needs are properly interpreted at project design stage. • Lead, plan and undertake extensive and continuous stakeholder engagement to ensure a detailed understanding and interpretation of existing and projected space demands. Manage regular forums for space and facilities related discussions between faculties and the estates department. • Produce regular reports to Space Operational Group using developed key metrics for space efficiency with comparative data based on HESA data, AUDE metrics and any other relevant source of information. • Formulate and implement space management and CAD procedures for use within Estates Services to ensure the continued accuracy of building layout plans and space records. Responsible for the verification of plans received from designers and contractors, checking adherence to procedures and conventions. • Liaise with external advisors around property management issues, including asset disposal, acquisitions and drafting and management of leases.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates the role is responsible for planning, developing and implementing procedures and systems to improve the overall effectiveness and utilisation of University space. The ability to convert complex information into meaningful analytics to influence highlevel senior decision-making is essential. The post holder will be the first point of contact for all Faculty and Professional Services space related building projects, and will undertake option appraisal and feasibility studies to ascertain the viability of requests in line with the University Estate Strategy principles of quality, effectiveness and efficiency. MainDuties andResponsibilities: • Conduct or commission/manage property and space utilisation, rationalisation and development studies to inform space strategy development and policies for implementation across the University. • Proactively research and develop new and innovative use of space, including teaching and learning spaces – in line with academic department needs, time- tabling, events co-ordination, project plans and aligned with relevant institutional strategies; collate and disseminate information. • Provide specialist advice to school/ faculty staff and academics to optimise

their use of space, supporting the development of new methods of working in line with evolving space standards. Manage the balance

between expectations and space norms, devise novel solutions and challenge the expectation that more space is an essential requirement. • Attend and contribute specialist space strategy input, including reports, business cases, data and presentations, to high level committees, programme planning, project team and other meetings. • Work collaboratively with the Space Management team, providing advice and guidance on the interpretation and

audits and surveys on a periodic basis. It is also
