News concerning activities at the B ible Institute o f Los Angeles downtown and at the new I.a M irad a Campus. Work on the dormitory building for the BIOLA Campus in La Mirada is expected to be completed by January 31. As a climax to the Jubilee year of the school , a special eight-page pictorial edition of the KING'S BUSINESS has been published. The magazine is available free to those who make the request. It covers the prog­ ress of the campus campaign from its in­ ception to the buildings to be constructed and ready for occupancy September, 1959. January 11, ground breaking ceremon­ ies were held for the Rose Memorial Li­ brary with Daniel Rose, director of the Jewish Department participating. The structure will eventually house 100,000 books with adequate study space for a student body of 1,400. •k * § * * BIOLA students will be host to an ex­ pected group of 400 to 500 high school young people during the Bible Institute's Hospitality Day, February 12th. The day's program guided by Mr. Ray Whiting, di­ rector of Admissions, will be conducted at the La Mirada Campus. The activities of the day will include an opportunity for students to actually meet faculty members and attend sample classes of instruction. Tours of the new facilities will also be featured. student and radio missionary. The station is expected to be on the air before the end of BlOLA’s Jubilee Year, February 24th, 1959. * * * * * The 1st Annual Alumni Homecoming, January 9th, was attended by a large number of the BIOLA Family. The program included a special banquet, with arrange­ ments made by the Rev. Marvin Francine, Alumni President, and Mr. Stuart Cun­ ningham, President of the Associated Student Body of BIOLA. Plans will be made to make the event an annual oc­ currence. * * * * * Duane Lindsey, Roy Wooten, Alvin Johnson and John Vanderslik have been elected student body officers of the Talbot Theological Seminary. Their positions are president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, respectively. Enrollment in the seminary is the highest in the school’s history. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Premier of Ghana, was presented with apocket edition of the New Testament at the recent All-African Peoples Con­ ference at Accra, Ghana. The presentation was made at the Govern­ ment House by Mr. Glenn Wagner, Foreign Secretary of the Pocket Testament League, and Mr. Sam Befus, Field Director of the League inAfrica. Dr. Nkrumah graciously accepted the New Testament with these words, “I will make good use of this precious gift” and went on to say, “I wish you well,” referring to the Pocket Testament League’s Africa Campaign of mass evangelization and Scripture dis­ tribution. Inthe past three years The Pocket Testament League has distributed four millionportionsof Scripture in25ofthe principal lan­ guagesand in14countries ofAfrica. Currently the League isengaged in an intensive campaign in Nigeria, Africa’s largest nation, and in Ghana, the center of much of Africa’s struggle for political freedom.
