Anchor Sustainability Report 2022-2023

Placemaking C13 Placemaking

C13

Anchor’s homes create their own communities as well as sitting at the heart of existing neighbourhoods to support resident wellbeing and enabling people to thrive in later life. When we develop new homes, we apply the HAPPI (Housing our Ageing Population Panel) guidelines. These are principles based on 10 criteria which are particularly relevant to older people and adapt to changing housing needs. These reflect: • Space and flexibility • Daylight in the home and in shared spaces • Balconies and outdoor space

• Adaptability and ‘care ready’ design • Positive use of circulation space • Shared facilities and ‘hubs’

• Plants, trees and the natural environment • Energy efficiency and sustainable design • Storage for belongings, bicycles etc • External shared surfaces and ‘home zones’. Placemaking forms a part of our regeneration and new development work, partnering with developers to think about how spaces can work best for our residents.

Case study: Resolve 100

At Anchor, we wanted to come up with solutions to long term property issues that directly and negatively impacted the lives of our residents. The Resolve 100 project has given housing, care and property managers the opportunity to work together collaboratively to submit applications for improvements at their locations.
