A Memorable Project: Vandenberg Flats
One of the company’s most ambitious projects, though unbuilt, remains a point of pride for Henry. The proposed Vandenberg Flats, a high-end luxury apartment complex in Olive Branch, would have been the largest project Kreunen Construction had ever undertaken. “Unfortunately, it was turned down at the alderman meeting due to traffic concerns,” Henry says. “But it wasn’t a failure. We put everything into that project and presented it with all the ammo we needed. It just wasn’t meant to be.”
Reflecting on the experience, Henry remains proud of the effort.
A Vision for Growth
Looking to the future, Kreunen Construction is poised for growth—but with caution. “In this industry, growth is dictated by the economy,” Henry explains. “We have plans to expand, but timing is everything. If you push forward at the wrong time, you risk stepping backward instead of forward.” Despite these challenges, Henry remains optimistic. “We’ve been through market crashes, economic shifts, and everything in between. Adaptability is in our DNA. As the economy recovers, so will we.”
